Ian Reid: Fetishism into the streets

Ian Reid, former skater and now professional documentary photographer, is bringing our most personal thoughts and instinctual drives into a public space. Fetishism, and the opus of photography surrounding it is often relegated to dim-lit dungeon-like sets that often feel more Disney and dominatrix. Ian’s work is partially exhibitionist, partially an an act of vulnerability. By photographing a typically private urge in a new context, the private experience is made public and by act of defiance, champions self-acceptance – “a lot of what I do is done behind closed doors, wearing items that are usually only thought about in a specific setting. I enjoy bringing it out and showing other people that they aren’t alone in the weird shit they like…”
